About BiblioRedes

BiblioRedes is a program of the Libraries, Archives and Museums Dibam. Born in November 2002 with the goal of transforming people into active agents of cultural and social development from public libraries and cyberspace, overcoming isolation through the Internet and new digital technologies.

It is present in 394 public libraries and 18 regional laboratories throughout Chile, from Visviri to Puerto Williams , including the island territories. The program includes art computers with Internet access and offers free training in content and digital developments. 

BiblioRedes is possible through the commitment of 292 municipalities with which it has agreements and resources that delivers the Government of Chile. At its inception, received the support of U.S. $ 9.2 million from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in what was one of the most significant donations received the Chilean cultural sector from abroad.
